If you are on Facebook you may have seen our post about our goal to increase our support base by 24 new monthly partners. My sister helped me create a flyer that gives some suggestions on amounts to give monthly and how those amounts could possibly be used. We cannot allocate funds, so these are just general ideas.
Check it out! ⬇️

As you'll notice just $5 a month can help cover the cost of cooking essentials when cooking Thai food. I thought it might be fun to change things up and share some info on the infamous Thai food and how you can easily add a taste of Thai to your meal.
The 3 Essentials in Thai Cooking
Chili peppers, garlic, and cilantro

I would say that the combination of Thai chili peppers, garlic, & cilantro give Thai food the incredible taste that people love. These 3 staples will always be found in a Thai kitchen. In fact, there was a season in Pope's life as a child that they only ate stir fried garlic & chilis with rice, as they were struggling to make ends meet. The cost for these items range from 5 - 30 baht, with 30 baht equaling approximately $1. With just these 3 ingredients (and salt) you can cook up a stir-fry dish that will satisfy the Thai taste bud.
Stir-Fried Potatoes
When I worked with Ezekiel Rain, I lived at the children's home for almost a year providing extra support to the house parents. Our house parents were from the Lahu Tribe, a hilltribe that migrated to northern Thailand from China & Myanmar. I told Pope that while I adore the Lawa tribe (Pope's hilltribe), I wish they cooked like the Lahu. Their food is AMAZING! Here is a dish that the house mom would make for breakfast and is one of my favorites.
Instructions
Chop up a few potatoes, maybe 1 per person and boil them for a few minutes so they are slightly soft. They can be as soft as you like. Mince or chop up chili peppers & garlic (2-3 cloves of garlic per person and as many chilis as you like). In Thai cooking they pound the chili & garlic together with a mortar & pestle. Heat some oil in a frying pan and add the chili & garlic together. Fry for a minute or so until fragrant and then add in the potatoes. Stir fry together the potatoes, garlic, & chilis until the potatoes are to a texture you like. It's completely fine if they are mashed. Add as much salt as you like. Turn off the frying pan and sprinkle cilantro on top. It's delicious!
Want to Cook Something Else?
I always recommend the site Hot Thai Kitchen if you want to learn to cook Thai food. Pailin is a Thai living in Canada who speaks very clear English and does a good job at adjusting recipes for cooking in North America. This Garlic Pepper Chicken is a tasty recipe that is not spicey at all.

Be sure to let us know if you try either of these recipes!
Become a Partner
As we shared above, we are looking to increase our team by 24 monthly partners in November. There is no amount too small, and every dollar gets us closer to our return to Thailand. If you are not already a part of our team, would you prayerfully consider joining us this month?
Thank you to those who have already said yes to being a part of our team as financial partners and prayer partners. We so appreciate you!
